Games Like Sims On Mac App Store
Good gaming laptops. Mar 18, 2015 If you’re buying a computer purely for playing games, a Mac isn’t the best choice. We always recommend building your own PC. Macs are more expensive than a desktop Windows PC, especially when you add on extra storage, memory or a faster GPU, and there’s a far smaller library of games that run natively on OS X.

Games Like Sims On Mac App Store Updates Not Working
- Can Sims 4 even run on a Surface? If it can't, there wouldn't be any point porting it to app form.2
- I don't think they will.. They want their games on PC to be origin exclusive.
- edited May 2017Sims 4 is not an app and I think EA uses Origin as a way of getting rid of Pirate downloads - so never I expect.
But Sims 4, apparently, has been tested to work with Microsoft's new Creator update, part of which is Game mode for Windows 10. - edited May 2017
Technically there isn't any difference between apps and other programs because 'app' is just an abbreviation for 'application software' which are all programs except 'system software'. But the confusion about this is that 'apps' usually only is a term used for application programs that are downloaded from an 'App Store'. But any program (which isn't part of the operating system) can also easily be made available as an app.Sims 4 is not an app and I think EA uses Origin as a way of getting rid of Pirate downloads - so never I expect.

So the problem only is if EA will accept to let Microsoft keep some of the money as a payment for selling the game in the Windows Store? - Sims 4 is not an app and I think EA uses Origin as a way of getting rid of Pirate downloads - so never I expect.

Of course use Origin as a DRM method
But it no mean than cant use other stores... see other EA games than also are available on Steam - edited May 2017The only game being considered for the Windows store is the MOBILE version of Sims 4 - not our pc/mac version. Also keep in mind Microsoft is an EA partner - so not a big deal. EA produces games for Microsofts XBox and pc games - so not strange that an EA mobile app game go to Microsofts mobile game store.

sure, but Windows 10 S only accept software than are available at store
Then EA could make The Sims 4 available at Windows Store - That is not likely to happen. Apps yes - but the pc game - not something i could see EA doing.

Windows 10 S is only meant as a competitor for Google's ChromeOS and for students who otherwise maybe would have chosen to buy a Chromebook. It isn't meant for gaming at all. But Windows 10 S can always easily be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro for people who need to install games or programs from other places than just from the Windows Store. The upgrade to Windows 10 Pro is free for many people (like students) and only cost $50 otherwise. The only game being considered for the Windows store is the MOBILE version of Sims 4 - not our pc/mac version. Therefore companies like EA don't need to consider Windows 10 S at all and EA won't because EA has Origin already and therefore no need to pay Microsoft's Windows Store anything to make EA's games available there too.- Therefore companies like EA don't need to consider Windows 10 S at all and EA won't because EA has Origin already and therefore no need to pay Microsoft's Windows Store anything to make EA's games available there too.
Then why sell games at Steam? - edited July 2017The answer : NEVER
Why ?
Because EA, Valve and other publishers don't want to use Windows Store and Mac App Store because they already developed their own stores (Origin, Steam, Uplay)0 - edited July 2017Therefore companies like EA don't need to consider Windows 10 S at all and EA won't because EA has Origin already and therefore no need to pay Microsoft's Windows Store anything to make EA's games available there too.
Then why sell games at Steam?
I look at Steam, only old EA games are there, The Sims 3 and Mass Effect 2, it was the past, the EA Store/EADM era.
The last game sold on Steam was The Sims 3 Into The Future in 2013 (4 years ago).

All the new games are exclusive to Origin Store.
Probably because Steam is very popular and preferred by a huge number of gamers who only look for games at Steam. But another thing is something I don't know much about: the price. I know that Apple is very greedy and that some companies don't want to sell TV subscriptions or additional content for games via Apple's App Store because Apple keep too much of the money. Some companies let people buy such things on Google Play but either not at all via Apple or they raise their prices such that we have to pay about 10% more if we buy via Apple. I don't know Microsoft's prices. But it sure isn't free for EA to sell games via Microsoft either. So without good reasons EA sure would prefer to only sell games via Origin which EA own themselves. On the other hand I think that Steam wants to be cheap because Steam knows that otherwise not many game companies would put their games on Steam at all. But Microsoft makes its own games too and likely doesn't want to let its App Store be too cheap to use for other companies. Therefore companies like EA don't need to consider Windows 10 S at all and EA won't because EA has Origin already and therefore no need to pay Microsoft's Windows Store anything to make EA's games available there too.

Not only, because Steam (launched in 2003) got more features than EADM which was a download manager.
Origin Software was released in June 2011 when EA decided to create their own 'Steam'.
Yes, I remember EA Download Manager too.

Except that Origin never will become Steam because Origin only is for EA's own games (like Uplay only is for games from Ubisoft) while all game companies can choose to put their games on Steam.Origin Software was released in June 2011 when EA decided to create their own 'Steam'.- edited July 2017Except that Origin never will become Steam because Origin only is for EA's own games (like Uplay only is for games from Ubisoft) while all game companies can choose to put their games on Steam.
Hmmm.. on Origin .. Ubisoft's South Park, Ghost Recon, For Honor, Watch Dogs 2, The Division, Assassin's Creed Syndicate.. CD Projekt RED's Witcher 3.. Square Enix's Tomb Raider, Hitman

Sure, it's not Steam but Origin sell games of the other publishers. - edited July 2017@Erpe@leo3487
But the main reason is Origin is the Digital Rights Manager (DRM) which links your Origin account to the computer that you use.
Since 2011, Origin is deeply coded in the games, they can't be launched without this software.
Windows Store, Mac App Store and Steam can't handle them.
And EA didn't plan to pay its rivals (yes, there are royalty fees), Microsoft is also a video game publisher.
Edit: They already pay Microsoft for the mobile games.0 - edited July 2017So the problem only is if EA will accept to let Microsoft keep some of the money as a payment for selling the game in the Windows Store?
Non-Origin Store = Re-develop partially the game (*) = Money, time and resources
(*) : Remove Origin DRM and features without breaking the game stability.
Note: The Sims 4 got the In-Game Store which allows you to buy packs, Windows 10 S would break this feature.
There is no gain to put a lot of money for a few of players. The simmers with Windows 10 S are not thousands.
Personal note: I prefer Maxis improve and fix the game instead of losing their time with Windows Store.0
Okay. I didn't know that. My Ubisoft games are on Uplay. But I haven't played PC games in a couple of years because I am too busy with my tablet gamesExcept that Origin never will become Steam because Origin only is for EA's own games (like Uplay only is for games from Ubisoft) while all game companies can choose to put their games on Steam.

True. EA can't get online games on Xbox without paying Microsoft. But Windows Phone is dying and EA doesn't even support the Sims Freeplay on Windows Phone anymore.@Erpe@leo3487

Thousands aren't enough for EA to care anyway. Windows 10 S isn't meant for gamers. But I would expect EA to need at least 100,000 simmers on any platform before EA would consider to use the platform. So the problem only is if EA will accept to let Microsoft keep some of the money as a payment for selling the game in the Windows Store?

EA probably gives Maxis extra employees to do such things. Seem you never heard about pirated The Sims 4, or only heard the quite first attempts
With thay I say, is not true at all than make version for other store, or origin free, break the game stability - edited July 2017@leo3487
I won't talk about that part because I don't know if it requires or not a 'patched' version of Origin or if it works without Origin.
But the pirates can't download the game updates or use the gallery. - @leo3487

Well, lately no need a patched origin
But also is right you cant use gallery (anyway it no mean impact on performance)
Just to make you and all others figure it, Origin DRM is just a layer added at post production or later stages - Just to make you and all others figure it, Origin DRM is just a layer added at post production or later stages
