Nanosaur is a science fictionthird person shootervideo game developed by Pangea Software and published by Ideas From the Deep for Mac OS 9 and Microsoft Windows. The player takes on the form of a Nanosaur, a genetically engineered intelligent dinosaur from the future, sent back in time just prior to the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.
I'm 23 in a month and I remember playing an old (i think partially educational) dinosaur game from the approximate ages of 5-10. It was set in a first person 3d environment. I remember it requiring that you travel between the ages (Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous) in order to complete some (again, educational iirc) timed objectives. We started making our games for both PC and Mac with Game #22 Nancy Drew: Trail of the Twister. At this time, HeR Interactive is developing all of our new games for the Mac, as well as PC. I wish we had more games available for the Mac, but as we are a small company, the cost of converting our older games is prohibitive. The 10 Best old games for Mac: Revisiting the classics For the record, old-school classics are not exclusive to older gamers. Dino Eggs is a 1983 computer platform game by Micro Fun. It was released for the Apple II and Commodore 64. The original, Apple II-series version was by David Schroeder, who also developed the concept for the game. The game was ported to the Commodore 64 by Leonard Bertoni. This was a game that I played on my Macintosh and it was so addicting. The concept was simple and it was black and white (of course since it was an old Mac), but it was really fun. I can't remember a lot about it, but I think you were a spaceship or something and you tried to gather crystals while avoiding mines. Aug 30, 2014 Diamonds is an interesting puzzle game. The rule of the game is that the main character ball should eliminate all colored-bricks and then finally get rid of bricks which has light green crystal.
Story[edit]
Dinosaur Games For Pc
In the distant year of 4122, a dinosaur species, Nanosaurs, rule the Earth. Their civilization originated from a group of human scientists who experimented with genetic engineering. Their experimentation led them to resurrect the extinct dinosaur species; however, their victory was short lived, as a disastrous plague brought the end of their civilization itself. The few dinosaurs resurrected were lent an unusual amount of intelligence from their human creators, leaving them to expand on their growing civilization. However, as the Nanosaurs were the only species on Earth, inbreeding was the only possible choice of reproduction. This method largely affected the intelligence of the various offspring, and slowly began to pose a threat to their once-intelligent society.
The Nanosaur government offers a quest that involves time traveling into the year 65 million BC, where the five eggs of ancient dinosaur species must be retrieved and placed in a time portal leading to the present year. Their high-ranking agent, a brown Deinonychus Nanosaur, is chosen to participate in this mission. On the day of her mission, she is teleported to the past via a time machine in a Nanosaur laboratory.
The Nanosaur arrives in a lush jungle, with twenty minutes given to collect the eggs before the meteor that caused the initial extinction of the dinosaur race hits the Earth. After battling various Tyrannosaurus rex's, the Nanosaur enters a volcanic crater, where she must cross several stone formations in a river of lava in order to retrieve the eggs. After making her way across the river, the Nanosaur detects the final eggs in a canyonoasis, where various dinosaurs, namely Dilophosaurus and Stegosaurus, are attempting to hinder her progress in order to protect their eggs. After evading defeat, the Nanosaur beams the final egg into the time portal, and is carried along with it back to the present.
Following the completion of the Nanosaur's mission, the eggs are placed in nationwide laboratories, where the scientists intend on breeding them for their own purposes. Several months following this event, the eggs finally start to hatch.
Gameplay[edit]
The object of the game is to collect the eggs of five dinosaur and flying reptile species and deposit them in time portals to the future in twenty minutes; at the end of the countdown, the asteroid that caused the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event hits Earth. The Nanosaur is equipped with a 'fusion blaster' (a basic multi-purpose energy weapon), a jet pack allowing flight, a temporal compass for locating time portals, and a GPS locator for navigation.
The native animals will attack the Nanosaur when their eggs are threatened; species encountered include Tyrannosaurus rex, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Dilophosaurus (who spits venom as in Jurassic Park), and the flying reptile Pteranodon. As well as hostile creatures, the Nanosaur must also avoid water and lava, environmental hazards which slow the player down (or kill it).
Legacy[edit]
The game was being ported to Linux by Three Axis Interactive, but the port was never completed.[2] Around 2003 the source code of the game was made available by the developer under a restrictive license.[3]
Nanosaur Extreme is another version of Nanosaur, released at a later time with heftier system requirements. It has many more enemies and weapons than Nanosaur, and it is described on the Nanosaur downloads page as 'what Nanosaur was meant to be - a total kill-fest'.
Nanosaur 2: Hatchling, a continuation of the original Nanosaur storyline, was released in March 2004 Nanosaur 2 is the first stereoscopic game released for the Mac.[4]

One of the more original 'business' games made, DinoPark Tycoon is both a strategy and educational game. Build a theme park showing off various types of dinosaurs
You are in charge, and have to do many things, including:
borrowing money
buying and selling dinosaurs
buying fences to keep them in, including electric fences for extra security
hiring staff, such as maintenance, cooks, tour guides, vets
building and expanding your park to include things such as washrooms, concession stands, and parking lots
setting admission fees
advertising your park
As with most simulation games, the story is not relevant; it's just to get you started. The objective in Dinopark Tycoon is the successful administration of a park. However, this is not your ordinary amusement park but a dinosaur park. You start off with $5000 which is borrowed from the bank. The game doesn't just limit itself to buying a few dinosaurs, but also having to buy land (there are three types of land on wich you can build your park), fence it properly (there is even an option to buy electrical fences) and hire maintenance men since you don't want your dinos to escape. You also have to buy food for your over-sized attractions. There are dinosaurs that eat only meat, and there are others who eat only vegetables. Luckily the game comes with an encyclopaedia of all the dinosaurs available, which comes in pretty handy. Your task will be to buy dinosaurs and facilities, maintain them properly, and keep the visitors entertained for the cheapest possible entrance price.

Graphics are good, considering the game's age, while sound is nothing special. The interface is a good feature of this game since it's very nice and simple to learn. Overall, this is a fun game that deserves a mark of 4!
Backyard sports games mac. One of the most original 'business' games ever made, DinoPark Tycoon is a great concoction of education and strategy. Fans of Jurassic Park take note, here is the game you've been waiting for :) Construct and supervise your own dinosaur theme park, from the starting funds of $5,000 (yes, those modern dinos are a bit cheap).
Although the box claims 'Ages 8 and up,' most kids younger than ages 12 or so will probably find DinoPark Tycoon too difficult and daunting, because there are many variables to keep track of, and managing the park's finances is not easy. You are in charge of borrowing money, buying dinosaurs, building fences to keep them in, hiring tour guides, building parking lots, setting admission fees, and many more. There are many strategies at your disposal to increase revenues, such as adding dinosaurs, selling dinosaur babies, opening concession stands, advertising the park, and raising ticket prices. The game's educational aspect is very strong, as it provides many kinds of information to aid decision making, including a dinosaur fact guide, daily records, quarterly financial reports, and a calendar (with months that tick by). Players will learn graphing skills, estimation, supply and demand, and money management as they track profits. Not to mention a LOT of dinosaur anecdotes. The game includes may innovative ideas, such as the ability to buy seeds so you can grow your own plant life for the herbivores. Every facet of running a DinoPark is factored in, including different prices in meat or plants that you must buy to feed park denizens, different kinds of fences, etc. Knowledge of each dinosaur's characteristics is important to success. For instance, you have to know how strong and aggressive of a dinosaur you have to determine if they need an electrified fence. Fail to contain a T-Rex, and you'll have mass panic on your hands.

As a business sim, DinoPark Tycoon is very enjoyable as a 'light,' humorous sim that is quite addictive. As an edutainment title, the game offers a lot of crucial dinosaur-related information, and kids will learn basic skills of economic management in a fun environment. Overall, this is one of MECC's best releases, and a must-have for practically everyone. Highly recommended.
